Australian domain names have some specific requirements that are
detailed on the auDA
website. What follows is a short summary; please check with the
auDA for full details.
- You must have an ABN to register a .com.au or .net.au
- Individuals (non-businesses) must use .id.au
- The selected domain name must be an exact match,
acronym/abbreviation, or have a "close and substantial connection"
to you / your business
- Such connections include product or service names offered by
your business.
- Some personal account information will be disclosed to domain
registrars for publication in accordance with domain registration
requirements.
Note that the global domains ( .com / .net / .org ) do not have
these requirements.
